Easy Green Smoothie
I love a green smoothie. Every time I drink one, I feel like I’m doing one of the best things I can for my body. I get to fill it with tons of fiber and phytonutrients, and green smoothies can be way more tasty than we give them credit for! I like this one because it incorporates the healthy ingredients my body needs, and it is a pleasure to drink.
Ingredients:
1/2 a banana
A handful of kale (washed and chopped roughly)
The juice of one orange (or a splash of orange juice from a carton, but ensure it doesn’t have added sugar)
The juice of 1/4 of a lemon
1/2 an avocado
A few leaves of your favourite fresh herb (mint or basil are lovely)
Honey to taste (don't go overboard, add at the end after you give it a taste first)
Any supplements you wish to add (probiotic powder, collagen powder, etc)
Coconut water (or regular water) - add just enough to give you the consistency you want your smoothie to have
To make, just toss it into a blender, whiz it up and enjoy! As I said, you should only add honey if you really need to sweeten it up, but don’t go overboard. It is good for your body to monitor your sugar intake (even with healthy sugars) since bad bacteria in your gut feed off of sweet things.
